YOHaD in 1st Regional Education Summit on HIV/AIDS in Africa
(RESHAA 2011) in Nicon Luxury Abuja – Nigeria.

RESHAA 2011 with theme “Saving Lives through Prevention Education: The role of young people” was organized by Federal Ministry of Health.

The program started with Youth Pre-summit between sat, Nov, 19 and Sun, Nov, 20, 2011 at International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja.

The summit which focused on education as a major Preventive Measure especially among In/Out-of-School youths had key presentations on two pronged approach to HIV prevention adopted by Federal Ministry of Health among other presentations. These are:

  • The curricular based strategy using Family Life HIV & AIDS Education (FLHE)
  • The co-curricular using Peer Education.
 
     
 

YOHaD major activity was the presentation of a Poster Abstract titled “Lessons Leant in Integrating Small Scall Income Generating Activities into Peer Education on HIV Prevention Amongst Youths” by the author and Executive Director YOHaD, Worgu Emmanuel Chukwuemeka.

   

The Honorable Minister of Education, Professor Ruquayyatu Ahmed Rufai, OON who led other top dignitaries to the opening ceremony conducted the formal opening of the summit on Monday, November, 21st 2011.

 The summit came to a close with a closing ceremony which featured the grand finale of the youth speak-out on Thursday, November, 24th 2011.
